Airport bag handlers could strike
Baggage handlers at Jersey Airport could go on strike over changes in their working conditions. Union representatives will meet with aviation ground service company Servisair to discuss proposed changes to its staff's working hours. Unite union said the company had asked workers to reduce their hours or be made redundant. It said those demands were illegal. Servisair has told BBC Jersey that it cannot comment at the moment. Nick Corbel, from Unite, said Servisair told four of its staff to reduce their shifts by 10 hours a week or face redundancy. The union said it had been given a mandate to ask workers if they wanted to take strike action over the demands. (from BBC) |
