The Guernsey Renewable Enegy Commission
Below a circular from Chris Green (Commerce & Employment) with regard to The Guernsey Renewable Energy Commission report released today:
I am writing to you all in the various roles that you have with regard to the promotion and management of business on Guernsey.
The Guernsey Renewable Energy Commission (GREC) has today released a scoping report for public consultation which sets out how a Regional Environmental Assessment (REA) into the development of Marine Renewable Energy will be undertaken. This strategic study will establish the likely environmental impacts associated with the deployment of Marine Renewable Energy devices in the seas around Guernsey and Sark. With this knowledge, the Guernsey Renewable Energy Commission will be able to understand the environmental issues involved in the deployment of renewable energy devices and the associated cable connections. By receiving feedback on this scoping report it will ensure that the REA will cover all the relevant fields of interest and sensitivities. This is to inform you that the Scoping report has been released for consultation today. There has been a media release, and the report is the subject of a consultation paper.
The REA Scoping report and Consultation Paper may be downloaded from the recently-launched GREC website ]www.guernseyrenewableenergy.com
Members of the public, local stakeholders and those with technical or consenting interests in the UK or elsewhere are encouraged to provide any feedback to the report that they wish to be considered for incorporation into the final version, to be prepared on completion of the consultation, due 10th December.
Please direct comments on the REA Scoping Document to the consultation email address ]enquiries@guernseyrenewableenergy.com . However, if you wish to discuss the work of the Commission in general, then please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
