Alderney water is safe to drink
Tests carried out by Alderney Water for a chemical used in airport fire-fighting foam have confirmed the island's supplies are safe to drink.
The tests followed the detection of small amounts of perfluorooclaine sulfonate (PTOS) in Guernsey streams.
Tests found it present in Alderney's supply but well below safe levels set by the UK Drinking Water Inspectorate.
Both islands have since replaced fire-fighting foam stocks with a type that does not contain PFOS. (from BBC)
