Paid parking 'will be introduced'
Guernsey's Environment Minister believes it is inevitable that paid parking will be introduced. The States scrapped any plans for a scheme, which it was hoped would fund the island's Transport Strategy, in February. Deputy Peter Sirett said the prospect of a parking charge has not gone away. He said: "It will become essential, we're one of the few places in the western world where you can park without paying." Deputy Sirrett said: "As Treasury keep saying, all the land that the States own, which is currently used as public parking spaces, needs to wash its face. "Whether it's will be this year, next year or the year after I don't know." (from thisisguernsey) |

So Peter Sirett thinks that we should have paid parking because most other places in the west have. Why? Sheep springs to mind.

Re: Paid parking 'will be introduced'
If the tax on fuel isnt reduced when paid parking is introduced then that will be proof that it was all about stealth taxation to start with.
