Jersey governor donates last hour's pay
The Lieutenant Governor has backed a campaign to get people in Jersey to donate money to a stroke charity.
General Andrew Ridgway will give his last hour's pay of the year to The Stroke Association.
About 140 people in the island suffer a stroke each year and some are left with a physical or mental disability.
The chairman of the Stroke of Midnight Appeal, John Boothman, said he hoped the governor's support would encourage others to donate an hour's pay as well.
Some businesses have already signed up to the appeal, the association said. (from BBC)
