Haiti Earthquake Appeal
Submarine Charitable Trust has launched the Haitian Earthquake Appeal. Donations can be made online via its web application Appeal.gg, link at the bottom of the page.
News coming in of 14th January suggests that this has been a disaster of biblical proportions, estimates ranging from 30 – 50000 people dead. There is no doubt that the immediate rescue will have massive resource and costs issues to resolve and the future rebuilding of Haiti and its capital Port-au-Prince will be a huge commitment for the international community.
Haiti is one of the poorest countries in the world, wracked by regular coups, gang warfare and can be described as a ‘failed state’.
The Trustees of Submarine Charitable Trust tell IFCfeed that the donations do not currently have a home as of 14th January but he will be contacting either the Geurnsey Overseas Aid Committee and the Bailiff’s Fund to ascertain if the money can be dispersed via their channels.
