Too much co2: What's your view?
Guernsey's Motor Traders' Association says introducing an emissions tax could be bad for the environment.
The environment department is consulting on proposals to bring in a green tax on cars that emit too much co2. But the GMTA says that could discourage people from buying new cars, leaving more old cars polluting on Guernsey's roads.
Should owners of cars with big engines pay more tax than drivers who have smaller cars?
Would you pay more tax if you knew the money was helping to fund environmental projects?

Re: Too much co2: What's your view?
Owners of large cars already pay more tax, as the tax is on fuel usage. If it put on the purchase price or an annual road tax, there will be less incentive to use other forms of transport as the tax will still be paid, even while sitting in a garage.

ther is an easier way, makes money to both the motor trade and the states, reduces C02 and makes peoples lifes easier by reducing noise etc...its call an MOT.

That is a money spinner for the motor trade and likely to put a lot of 'older people ' who will not be able to afford the MOT off the road.....another stealth tax and a large step towards being 'Little England'....!!!!!!! and before you applaud older people not being able to use their own cars ....think long and hard about the fact that one day (if you are fortunate) you also will all be old

even more reason to have one, if they can't afford to be on the road what state are their cars in? death traps maybe? if people can't afford to run their cars the chances are they can't afford regular maintance, before you ask no I don't work in the motor trade.
