Guernsey estate agents join fund raising efforts for Haiti Empty Guernsey estate agents join fund raising efforts for Haiti

Four estate agents from Cooper Brouard are going the extra mile to join Guernsey’s fund-raising efforts for Haiti.

Trevor Cooper, Matt Brouard, Ross Le Marquand and Julian Coles are supporting the Guernsey Velo Club’s 80 for Haiti event but instead of cycling 80 miles, they’ll be undertaking an 80 kilometre sponsored cycle ride around Guernsey.

‘It’s fair to say that none of us are dedicated cyclists and in some cases it’s been a while since we rode eight kilometres on a bike, let alone 80 but we want to give ourselves a challenge and raise as much money as we possibly can for the people of Haiti who have been through such tragedy,’ said Mr Cooper.
The foursome will set off at 7.30am on Sunday 21st February and aim to cycle 80km, which is the equivalent of 50 miles or just over twice around the island, within four hours. All the money raised will be donated to Aid Reaching Children’s Emergency Appeal.

‘It will be a test of our determination but we want to make a tangible effort to the essential fund-raising,’ said Mr Brouard.

Mr Le Marquand added:

‘It is important to maintain awareness of the help these people so desperately need.’

The team will be supported by their colleagues who will be at various points along the route offering encouragement. Everyone will then be waiting for them at Vazon when they complete their challenge.
Linda Garnham from Aid Reaching Children said the plan is to build either an orphanage or a school, depending on what the greatest need is.

‘Haiti is in a desperate situation and will need help for many years to come. The more money we raise, the more we can do to help and it’s brilliant that everyone wants to give to such a worthwhile project that will have such an enormous benefit. We appreciate everyone who is doing what they can to help,’ she said.

Anyone wanting to donate money can contact Cooper Brouard on 236039 or send a cheque payable to Aid Reaching Children Emergency Appeal to Cooper Brouard, The Old Post, Grande Rue, St Martin’s, GY4 6RR.
