Jersey properties flooded in bad weather
Heavy rain and strong winds have caused severe flooding in parts of Jersey. Many properties are said to have more than six inches (15cm) of flooding, with some reported to be under more than 2ft (60cm) of water. Trinity Hill's Safeway supermarket and car park were flooded and the rain also caused a landslide in St Saviour and Grouville - partially blocking a road. Gale force winds brought down trees in St Saviour, along the Grande Route de St Martin and in St Peter's village. The fire and rescue service has received more than a dozen calls for assistance with floods since 0400 GMT. Jersey Met Office said more than two inches (5cm) of rain fell in parts of the island overnight. |
