Southern wants Syvret's seat

Jersey Deputy Geoff Southern WILL stand for Senator.

The St Helier Deputy and Jersey Democratic Alliance member says if Senator Stuart Syvret doesn't return to the island in April he'll put himself forward in the by-election.

But he says he won't resign from his Deputy seat just incase he isn't successful.

Is it true that Syvret is still being paid from the public purse during his absence? If this is true, I feel he should be required to repay what he has received since he left the island. No States employee would be allowed to walk out of his job and continue to be paid!
