Telecoms Fair heads for Jersey Town Hall
A telecoms fair is being staged in Jersey for the first
time.
Next Saturday (20 March) Airtel-Vodafone; Clear Mobitel; Jersey
Telecom; me:mo; Newtel Solutions and Sure will be setting out their stalls at
the Town Hall. And the Jersey Competition Regulator will also be
there.
The fair has been organized by the Consumer Council. Chairman
Senator Alan Breckon says it'll be a chance for people to weigh-up what each
provider is offering.
'The objective of organizing an event like this is
to give the public the ability to gain, quickly and easily, all the information
needed to make an informed choice. This is an opportunity for the Jersey
consumers to make sure they are have the right information if they are thinking
about moving from one provider to another, or taking on or changing a service.
'It can be difficult to make the best decision for your lifestyle.
Sometimes, short-term gains may not the best for you in the long-term. If you
are tying yourself to a lengthy contract, you need to be sure you are making the
right decision.
'Also it is an opportunity for those who may not have a
mobile phone, broadband service or know much about the internet to find out more
in a relaxed forum.”
This one-day event is open to the public from 10am
to 4pm and is a channel of communication for the operators and the public with
the Consumer Council'. (from CTV)
