Victory for Guernsey Empty Victory for Guernsey

Post by GD Sun 28 Mar 2010, 8:22 pm

Guernsey's football squad are through to the National Systems Cup Final.

In a thrilling game Ross Allen secured the winning goal against Dorset in stoppage time taking the home side through 3 - 2.

Guernsey had gone 1 - 0 up early on thanks to a goal from Glyn Dyer.

But minutes later the visitors equalised leaving the tie poised at 1 - 1.

In the second half Guernsey looked the stronger team but it was Dorset who took the lead after the ball was deflected in off Sarnian Captain Sam Cochrane.

It looked like Guernsey were going to lose at the semi-final stage for a second time until a fortunate own goal made it 2-2 with less than 10 minutes to play. In injury time, Allen completed the comback finishing superbly after decent work from Craig Young.

The final - which will be in May - could be in Guernsey. They'll face a team from either Liverpool or Yorkshire. (from CTv)
