‘Not enough local produce at farm shop’

A FARM shop in Grouville has been threatened with States sanctions if it does not sell more local goods.
Holmegrown, in Grouville, which is meant to sell 70 per cent local produce and 30 per cent imported – a condition attached to its previous planning permission – has been threatened with enforcement action if it does not change its policy.
Politicians at a Planning meeting said that they were ‘gobsmacked’ at the size of Holmegrown and were concerned that it has turned into ‘a shop on a farm’ rather than a farm shop.
As a result of the meeting, panel chairman John Gallichan said that he would like to see a review of all farm shops in the Island to see what they are selling.
Mark Kevlin from Economic Development, spoke in favour. He said that the owner was trying to grow and diversify his business (from JEP)
