DOZENS of tourists flew into the Island today as a cruise ship holiday was launched from Jersey for the first time.
Seventy-three Danish tourists flew in on a chartered aircraft this morning to join the boutique cruise ship the Ocean Nova, which docked in the Harbour. They will sail on to Guernsey before heading to France.
More than 70 passengers on the ship also ended their holiday in Jersey and flew out of the Island during the afternoon on the same aircraft. It was the first time that tourists had started a cruise ship holiday in the Island.
Jersey Harbours commercial director Myra Shacklady said: ‘This is extremely good news for Jersey. It was beneficial for the Airport, as it received an private aircraft, it was beneficial for us, and it was beneficial for Jersey as a whole as both sets of passengers got to spend some time in the Island today.’ (from JEP)
