Shame of St Helier

TOUGH action is needed to stop binge drinkers leaving the streets of St Helier covered in vomit, litter and blood, say the workers who have to clean up the mess.
They say they are fed up of the way town is blighted every weekend and want the police to be given more powers to deal with offenders.
To highlight their campaign, they have invited States Members to go and see the problem for themselves.
Tony Andrews, director of parks, cemeteries and open spaces in St Helier, said that his staff had been ‘pushed to breaking point’ by the vast amount of rubbish left in town. (from JEP)
Perhaps they should get those who are drunk and disorderly to clean up the mess

Yes agreed, but the states cleansing section have always worked 7 days a week even before Sunday opening. The do a great job and only have 1 day off a year from cleaning town plus St Sampson's which is Christmas day. So well done to them, but when was the last time someone was charged with littering? and if caught what should the fine be.
