Now you can pay your tax online

Islanders in Guefrnsey are being encouraged to go online to settle their income tax bills.

The system was introduced two years ago and is being improved and made easier to use.

Handling tax returns online make big savings for the Treasury which currently sends out 40,000 paper forms by post.

Online returns can be dealt with within three working days, they can be stored electronically at home and any overpayment will be refunded far more quickly.

Full automatic assessment is expected to go live well ahead of the January 2012 target date.
