Six weeks of late buses
Bus users in Guernsey can expect delays for at least the next six weeks.
From Monday (11 Oct) there will be roadworks on Forest Road and at Les Cornus. As a result Island Coachways say some bus routes will be diverted and that all services are likely to be subject to delays.
Separate diversions will be in place for cars and heavy vehicles.
Island Coachways boss Hannah Beacom has made a plea to drivers of commercial vehicles to follow the correct diversions to avoid snarl-ups.
Morning commuters are advised to catch an earlier bus if possible to ensure they're not late for work. School buses are also affected.
Hannah Beacom added: 'It is regrettable that a number of Island Coachways scheduled and school services continue to be disrupted due to the road works currently taking place across the island, affecting the morning commuter routes in particular.
'I understand that this is very frustrating for our passengers and road users and ask that they would bear with us whilst these temporary diversions are in place. Where possible we would advise passengers to take earlier scheduled services to ensure they complete their journey on time.'
Significant diversions will be in place on the routes 7 and 7A and some school routes operated by Island Coachways will be affected by the closures.
In the mornings, the Blanchelande backup service, Grammar 4 and Les Beaucamps G school buses will be diverted.
The Blanchelande backup service will not be picking up anyone beyond the Jeffries Roundabout, missing the stops on Rue Poudreuse, Caches and Forest Road.
The Grammar 4 and Beaucamps G buses will not be picking up anyone on Forest Road. After La Villette the next stop will be La Villaize Road (at the back of the airport).
In the afternoon, the Blanchelande backup, Grammar 6, Beaucamps G and Le Mare De Carteret 4 school buses will be affected.
The Blanchelande backup service will not be able to drop anyone off on Forest Road (including the Carlton Hotel). The Grammar 6, Beaucamps G and Le Mare De Carteret 4 buses will not be dropping off anyone between the Airport and Les Caches.
