Jersey politicians vote against government reform _49595760_49595759 Senator Alan Breckon wanted a change to the system of government

Jersey politicians have voted against changing the island's ministerial system of government.
They spent all of the sitting on Wednesday debating whether to change the government structure.
Senator Alan Breckon was calling for the change because he believes some politicians are not getting their say under the current system.
The vote was lost 28 to 21 with treasury minister Senator Philip Ozouf abstaining.
Senator Breckon called for ministerial boards where ministers would discuss policy proposals with other States Members.
The usual political allegiances were scrapped in the debate, with normally close allies voting against each other.
Some members complained there were too many interpretations of what the changes would mean.
Asking if it was just a return to the days of the committee system or something new altogether. (from BBC)

Cant be seen to have changes for free speech etc..
