Warning over phone line scam

Jersey Police are warning islanders of a phone line scam that could catch them out in the run up to Christmas.

It involves a card being posted through doors suggesting islanders need to make a call to have a parcel delivered to them.

The scam has been confirmed by Royal Mail. It originates from Belize.

Detective Constable Jeremy House from Jersey Police's Crime Reduction Unit said: "The scam involves a card being posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911 (a premium rate number). Do not call this number. If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will already have been billed for the phone call, and it can be costly."

Anyone that does receive a card with the above details, is asked to contact the Royal Mail fraud line on 020 7239 6655. (from CTV)
