International opportunity for Guernsey musicians
Following on from the success of the GBG #2 CD released in 2010, Twist Records and the Guernsey Arts Commission are compiling GBG Volume 3.
The second in the local music compilation series featured 21 bands and musicians spanning many genres.
As well as selling locally the CD gained interest from around the world with music being played on radio stations in Sweden and the USA.
Any original music recorded by local artists is eligible for the disc.
Music can be submitted for the third compilation on CD via the Arts Commission's website and Twist Records hope to release the new record in late 2011.
The Arts Commission's music commissioner, Russ Fossey, described the records as "historical documents" and said in the future people could look back and see what was on offer musically in Guernsey at that time.
GBG Volume 3 will follow on from the two previous edition released in 2010 and 2005 and continues a line of local music compilations which includes the Guernsey Rock Album from the early 1980s and the First record which was released just under a decade later.
Bands who featured on the second GBG compilation included Teaspoonriverneck, Asylum Seekas, Jamie-Lee and Jodie Webber.
Twist Record's Mark Le Gallez said it showed "Guernsey is a melting pot of all different musical styles". (from BBC)
