A support group has been set up in Jersey for those with eye-sight problems.
Macular Degeneration is where an area of the eye gradually loses sensitivity and it can result in loss of vision.
A supporters' group has been formed for people in Jersey to share their difficulties and get advice.
John Routier, from the group, said there were about 25 members so far. He is encouraging more people with eye problems to join.
He said the meetings involve talks on different subjects from visual aids to prevention and treatment of the disease.
Bartley McNeela, a consultant eye surgeon at Jersey's General Hospital, said "half of the more serious cases are now potentially treatable."
The Macular Disease Supporters Group meets on the second Friday of every month at the St Paul's Centre in St Helier.
The next meeting is on 11 February at 1330 GMT.
