St John appeals for islanders to step up support in its 75th year
THE St John Ambulance and Rescue Service is using its 75th anniversary to remind islanders how much their donations are needed to keep its specialist services going, according to the chief ambulance officer.
Jon Beausire said he wanted to start the anniversary year by reminding islanders that services such as cliff rescue would not be possible without their help.
‘Fund-raising will be an important part of our year as costs have gone up, but we will not be getting an increase in our grant.
‘Without the generosity of the public we would not be able to provide all of the services that we do.’ (from GEP)

If they stopped wasting money, they would have more sympathy.

There are a lot of those who do the work for nothing with out these dedicated folks there would not be any sports events in the island as they cover all of these and is always there for any public event
i like to support them when ever i can with a donation

The voluntary service and the paid service are two different organisations. It seems to suit both of them to keep the illusion of them being the same one.
