Tenants have quit States only tower block
THE island’s only tower block, the much-maligned Cour du Parc, is now empty.
Residents had long complained that the building in La Charroterie, St Peter Port, was not fit for purpose.
Housing confirmed those concerns when it wrote to all 42 tenants last year informing them that they would be moved.
The intention had been to do so by 2013, but continuing problems with the lift and more housing becoming available meant they were able to vacate it earlier.(from GEP)
Wonder what they will do with it now?

If it can be made habitable for guest workers why not for the original residents ?

I found that strange, too. Maybe foreigners don't mind a bit of squalor. They'd also all be in one place, making it easier for the Border Patrol to watch them.

Re: Tenants have quit States only tower block
My friend used to live there - but her parents couldn't manage because the lift kept breaking down - they are nice flats but totally unsuitable for famillies - so perhaps that is why guest workers would be ok in them....not really suitable for children - no garden to play in - and not many guest workers bring those over with them......Just a thought!!!

Perhaps they should refurbish and sell them off to first time buyers ,this will put them onto the property ladder
