Guernsey expects more than 70 cruise ships in 2011

Up to 65,000 cruise ship passengers could disembark in Guernsey during 2011, according to the Commerce and Employment Department.
Figures show 77 liners are due to call in, which is 43% up on 2010.
Last year about 54 ships called with about 40,000 passengers disembarking to visit the island.
Jason Moriarty, spokesman for Visit Guernsey, said the island was well established as a good destination, but there was no room for complacency. (from BBC)

Just hope shops owners make a good show for these folks .it works both ways

the cruise ship passengers spend very little money in guernsey ..you just have to watch them going back to the ship to know they have prob only bought a postcard or two x

by the way its ok for shops to open on a sunday for cruise ships but not for families to shop together x

Some shops do not want to open anyway as they cannot afford the overheads that go with it .

true kat but the real reason they dont shop here is that they can buy things onboard a lot cheaper xx

They do sent stuff from the island when they are here as well .
as for not buying stuff is this because they are ripped of by gooing on an round island drive costing them from 65 pounds each?
perhaps they should know the no7 bus will take them around the island for a quid .bargin!
