Red tape slows plan for more lights at zebras
CONTRACTUAL difficulties have been blamed for preventing safety improvements at pedestrian crossings.
Plans to improve signage, road markings and traffic calming measures were outlined in a report on speed limits, which was conducted by an Environment Department-led working group.
The report, which is now subject to public consultation, said the Environment board had approved the improvements to street lighting at all crossing points and the installation of tactile paving.
But due to contractual difficulties with Guernsey Electricity, the project was delayed. However, Guernsey Electricity said it was unaware of any delays. (from GEP)
