A UK restaurant chain is set to open a branch in Guernsey in July.

Gourmet Burger Kitchen was founded ten years ago and has more then 50 restaurants across the British Isles.

A GBK opened in St Helier in Jersey in February this year. The chain has won awards for its burgers. Around 15 full and part-time staff will be recruited and trained ahead of the opening in July.

The restaurant will be housed in the market building and will have seats for 120 diners with 50 more outside in Market Square.

The franchise will be run by Sandpiper CI and the company's CEO, Tony O'Neill, said, "Gourmet Burger Kitchen is the Rolls Royce of casual dining...We're aiming to open in late July and we'll be looking for a number of locally qualified staff with catering backgrounds to train in London and run the outlet (from CTV)

i can assume they willbe going in where the market kitchen is now as i cant think of any other area of the market with outside seating...will i buy a burger probably not as they are way to expensive ..
