Guernsey Good Beach Guide 2008
Guernsey Best Beach Guide for 2008
Passed = Bordeaux, Havelet Bay, Fermain, Petit Bot, Saints, Portlet, Leree, Vazon, Grandes Rocque, Port Soif, Ladies,
Failed since last year Cobo Bay
But the view is unless the sewage problem is sorted, more bays will fail to meet the EU targets

Re: Guernsey Good Beach Guide 2008
COBO - THE MOST POLLUTED BEACH IN THE CHANNEL ISLANDS
Islanders are being warned not to swim at Cobo bay after it failed tests for this year's good beach guideā¦. The marine conservation society has conducted tests on water quality at all the island's beaches. Only two Guernsey beaches have achieved top marks two fewer than last year. The guide's recommending L'eree and Port Soif. The MCS is advising islanders to steer clear of any beaches that failed their tests. They're also warning us we're better off avoiding those that only achieved basic passes. That includes Ladies Bay, Bordeaux, Vazon, Grand Rocques, Pembroke Bay, Portelet Bay and Petit Bot. But a 'fail' for Cobo means the water there is worse than anywhere else in the Channel Islands.

According to our beloved states members there is no problem with the way we pump out our sewage. Can these people not read ?

Re: Guernsey Good Beach Guide 2008
We now have this at Cobo .
"A clean up has been ordered for the Mare de Carteret surface water
pumping station in Guernsey following a problem at the Cobo sewage
plant.
Monitoring equipment there broke down ten days ago, but was quickly repaired.
In the event of any overflow, sewage is diverted to Mare de Carteret from where it could be discharged into Saline Bay.
Fishermen
have reported a stench near the outfall. This weekend's clean-up should
ensure there's no foul water in any of the pipework"

Re: Guernsey Good Beach Guide 2008
I have seen dogs fouling our beaches in the winter months and early spring, that does not help the situation.
