Herm Gold, Lord's Taveners Cricket and Robbie Williams! Empty Herm Gold, Lord's Taveners Cricket and Robbie Williams!

Post by GD Wed 13 Jul 2011, 10:43 pm

Another glorious day according to the forecast for Herm today, and the morning sun is definitely backing that up so far! Today also sees the launch of "Herm Gold". Following the success of the Mermaid Tavern Real Ale festival in May, the Liberation group has now produced our very own Real Ale called Herm Gold. This will be on sale in the Mermaid Tavern from 6.30pm this evening, and will be one of our standard ale offerings for the future.

The Lord's Taverners annual celebrity cricket match takes place on Herm Island for the first time this Sunday. The pitch (now called Herm International Cricket Ground) has been produced in Moss field by our Island gardeners Brett Moore and James Cordingley, and has stunning views down to Shell Beach and over to Alderney. The match begins at 11.15am, with Mike Gatting, former England cricket captain set to bowl the first ball. We will be burning a bail, and this will be placed in a replica Ashes urn, so that this match will always be played in the future for the "Herm Ashes". Lunch and the charity auction will be taken between 1pm and 3pm, with play resuming at 3pm until 4.30pm.
The Mermaid Tavern will be operating a beer tent and a burger and hotdog tent. Entry to Moss field is free of charge, and you are more than welcome to bring a picnic, but please respect our request not to bring barbecues or dogs.
Many faces from the world of TV, Film and Sport attend this event each year, and so we will be delighted to welcome to Herm Island Chris Tarrant, Lorraine Chase, Bill Turnbull, Chay Blyth, Steve McFadden, Perry Fenwick, Ricky Groves, Robert and Babs Powell and a number of others.

Our very own charitable music events started in 2004 in the White House Hotel marquee when Paul Warren captured the sensational sound, stunning looks, the wit and eccentric dance movements of Robbie Williams. This September, we are bringing Paul back for a dinner and show that will be just as fabulous as it was then! The evening will begin with the boat journey across to Herm, followed by a fabulous dinner in our marquee. Paul Warren will then perform with the swaggering style of Robbie Williams, along with the brilliant vocals that he has perfected, producing a highly entertaining and visual show that is completely unrivalled.
"Robbie Williams" will be performing on the 7th and 8th September, and the cost per person is £55. Call 01481 750075 or E mail hotel@herm.com to reserve your places.

July and August are traditionally our busiest times of the year, with school holidays and sunny days leading the way. We still have accommodation available at the White House Hotel, our Holiday Cottages and our Campsite for varying periods of time. For further information call 01481 750000 or E mail reservations@herm.com.
We do run a number of special offers and exciting breaks from time to time, so do keep an eye on http://bitly.com/hermspecialoffers+ which will keep you up to date.

We do hope that you are able to join us this summer whern we would be delighted to welcome you ashore!

Best wishes
