Jersey Internet ‘league table’ on the varying price of petrol
THE battle for cheaper petrol has been taken into cyberspace.
Just days after Jersey’s consumer watchdog released a long-awaited report on the fuel market, a new interactive website which enables motorists to share information on petrol prices has gone live.
The website – www.jerseyfuelwatch.com – enables drivers to upload the pump price at Jersey garages to create a live ‘league table’ of what retailers are charging. And it seems to have proved a hit, attracting 1,513 Islanders in the first 48 hours.
It is hoped that the site, which was commissioned by group of individuals who do not want to be named, will help to increase competition and drive down prices.

Matthew Robins, chief executive of Webreality, the St Helier-based web agency which created the site for the mystery individuals, said: ‘It was commissioned by a group of people who feel very strongly that something should be done about prices in the road fuel market.
