Christmas wish comes true: Ice skating saved!

If you were disappointed by the news that the Christmas ice rink was under threat, then you will be pleased to hear that the festive fun has been saved.

Wave Telecom have stepped in as sponsor of the popular ice rink at Market Square in St Peter Port after hearing that thousands of Islanders might miss out on the festive tradition this year after the usual sponsor Sure pulled out.

Last Christmas, 16,500 islanders used their ice rink in Jersey.

The skating rink will be launched on 8 December and islanders will be able to enjoy all the bustling atmosphere of Christmas in the market place, where there will be magical music, traditional stalls and the odd celebrity guest.

Tickets will be available from the Wave Telecom shop in the High Street from Tuesday 1 November and for the first week of ticket sales, the store will be the only place where tickets can be exclusively bought. From November 8 tickets will also be available online from www.jtwaveskate.com.


The rink will be open to the public from 9 December 2011 to 4 January 2012 daily from 9am to 9pm. (from CTV)

That is good news .. i dont skate[would love to try] but i have watched so many enjoy this event .why do they have to sponsor it as the company must make a huge amount of profit from it anyway?

its a bit of fun for the youngsters....hope everybody has a good time x
