22 companies want to run scrap metal business
There are 22 companies who have come forward to say they are keen to run a scrap metal business in Jersey.
At the moment Picot and Rouille operate from Bellozane.
The present agreement runs out on Christmas Day and TTS say they are expected to demonstrate they have explored the market.
The department says the disposal of scrap metal has changed in recent years with environmental considerations becoming far more stringent and complex.
Transport and Technical Services have put the contract out to tender and so far have heard back from 10 English companies, seven Jersey companies, two from both France and Guernsey, and one from Scotland.
