Housing laws change.
The ones we have were set up after the Second World War and don't allow for any flexibility in population
management.
The local and open market housing laws could soon be a thing of the past
with new guidelines for people moving to and staying in the island.
The States could discuss changes including different length working
licences, with permission for people to stay here permanently after 14
years.
If the States agree, the Population Policy Group will start work on new
rules immediately.
Just been watching the channel news , that is not what they said , they said you will be able to stay after just 8 years IMO that is wrong WE HAVE NO ROOM .

Re: Housing laws change.
henry there is a shortage of affordable housing. it will depend on what kind of job you were coming to guernsey to do..you will need a right to work ..there are lodging houses available to people on short term licences but you would need to look into all the details.you could make the first step by phoning the housing department who issue short term licences ..these are usually for 9 months then you leave for 3 months and can come back for another 9 months..there are longer licences available but these are for teachers, doctors etc.the number you need to call is 01481717000

Thank you Thistle for that phone number and the other information,
I am self employed and sell garden plants, shrubs, roses etc over the internet and was hoping to sell next summers stock and then move to Guernsey. Will find out more about the right to work in Guernsey. Regards Henry
