Guernsey charity work praised by Lieutenant Governor
Guernsey's Lieutenant Governor has praised the charity work of islanders in his annual Christmas message.
Air Marshal Peter Walker paid tribute to Guernsey people for the time and effort they put in to good causes.
In his first Christmas message to the Bailiwick since taking office, His Excellency said: "This selfless example of community spirit is outstanding."
He also described the way in which islanders help charities locally and abroad as "something special".
Meanwhile, Bailiff Sir Geoffrey Rowland, in his final festive message, asked islanders to remember those people experiencing difficult circumstances.
Sir Geoffrey will retire from his post in March 2012.
