Guernsey Airport should be turned into a States-owned trading company.

Public Services say the current system for operating the airport is too complex and prevents it from being commercial.

The department is asking for States approval to investigate how the airport could be run commercially and at arms-length from government.

And Public Services also see the island's ports being run commercially, while still being publicly owned.

The department wants to press ahead with commercialisation of the harbours, which is a multi-million pound business employing almost 80 people.

Public Services believe a fully commercial port could contribute more to the capital investment needed. That reckoned to amount to £260 million between now and 2020.
