A tourist bus route will link the Durrell Wildlife park in Trinity to the Jersey Pearl centre in St Ouen's Bay.

Passengers will be able to cross the island from the north to the west with one change of bus and without needing to travel through St Helier.

The new "yellow route" service is due to start in May and will be run by Connex under its existing contract terms.

Other Explorer routes are due to come into service in April.

Transport minister, Deputy Kevin Lewis, said: "I believe the revised timetables are easier to understand and reflect the demand patterns that the bus network experiences during the peak tourist season."

In February the transport department announced it had decided to enter negotiations with another company to run the bus service.

Connex had run the service since 2002 but the contract is due to end in December.
