Owners of a nightclub in St Helier have said they are "sorry" for any confusion caused by a change to its door policy on Friday night.

Chambers nightclub became 21 and over on Friday, which the owners said was done to "control and limit numbers" when it reopened after refurbishment.

The club received complaints via its Facebook page on Saturday after people had been turned away on Friday night.

Chambers said the age restriction had returned to 18 and over.

In a statement, Chambers owners said: "We were taken aback over the weekend by the sheer volume of people who wanted to come and see the new Chambers.

"On Friday night a spontaneous decision was made to up the age restriction to 21+ to control and limit numbers. This was a one off decision, and on reflection probably not the right one.

"We do not want to disappoint anyone, so I can confirm that as of today the age restriction at Chambers has been put back to 18+."
