Guernsey unemployment rate higher than figures showed

There were more Guernsey residents without work in February than the Social Security Department reported.

A mistake by the department meant 22 Guernsey people were wrongly identified as Alderney residents instead.

The actual Guernsey figure was 454, with 151 working part time and 36 on a training scheme - a total of 641, or 1.4% of the working population.

So have the figures have now increased by at least one.

The headline should read "Alderney unemployment rate lower than figures showed"

it clearly states by 22 kingcole and the unemployment rate has just increased by another 60 because of your greedy tory government ...

Thistle you are becoming paranoid. I was postulating that whoever made such a careless mistake would be added to the total of unemployed. Please read things properly.

And I think you need to look closer to home than the UK to find the real reasons.
