Police checks highlight road safety
Ten teams of police officers are out on the streets of Jersey to raise awareness about safe driving.
80 honoraries and 50 states police are carrying out vehicle checks and educating the public about the dangers of speeding, using mobile phones, drink driving and not wearing a seatbelt.
From first thing this morning to 2:30pm, officers stopped around 2,500 cars and spoke to the drivers about the "Fatal Four".
During the course of the morning they reported around 40 people for a variety of offences, including driving through red lights in town, not having a driving licence, speeding and not wearing seatbelts.
A Police spokeswoman said: "The reception from the public has been incredibly positive and it seems the message is getting through as hoped."
