Tasers - Do we need them?
There will be a review of proposals to allow Jersey Police to use Taser stun guns.
The Home Affairs Scrutiny Panel wants to hear from islanders before the States debate the issue.
Home Affairs Minister, Ian Le Marquand supports the introduction of Tasers as they are less-lethal weapons than guns.
But the panel says there are concerns over whether such weapons are necessary in a place like Jersey.
An electric shock can have a serious and dangerous effect on individuals and potentially alters and disturbs the relationship of trust between citizen and the police officer.
Chairman, Deputy Jeremy Maçon, said: "The Scrutiny review is an opportunity for people to have their say on this important issue prior to the States debate.
"We welcome comments from members of the public and have set up an online survey to make it easy for people to contact us."
The online survey is on: www.scrutiny.gov.je . Alternatively views can be forwarded by email to scrutiny@gov.je, by post to the Scrutiny Office, Morier House, Halkett Place or on Facebook.
The Panel review will take into account:
· The extent to which Tasers are justifiable alternatives to other methods of restraint already used in Jersey,
· The human rights implications of their use,
· The circumstances in which they might be used,
· The training provided to officers in their use,
· The costs of providing this capability to the States of Jersey Police,
The Panel will also enquire about the experience of the use of Tasers in Guernsey and the Isle of Man.

Try the survey, you are supposed to be a resident of Jersey but it does not stop you completing it!
Interesting choice of Questions, one could argue that it is a biased survey!
What do you think?
