National Trust Sunset Concerts 2012

The National Trust for Jersey, in association with Ashburton, is holding their annual sunset concert at Grantez on Friday 29 & Saturday 30 June 2012.

As always, the Sunset Concerts are free, and will be held in the beautiful setting of Grantez, near the Dolmen. This hidden gem is a natural woodland amphitheatre, perfect for bringing your picnic blanket, loaded hamper and enjoying the live music while the sun sets over the sea.

For those with a penchant for blues, Friday’s act is Giles Robson and the Dirty Aces, a local four piece band that will be sure to get you tapping your feet. With reviews such as “this man could well be the best harmonica player on the blues scene today” and “21st century blues, just like they used to be!” this is an evening not to be missed (www.gilesrobson thedirtyaces.co.uk).

Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Jamaican independence, there will be a jazz and reggae flavour to the Saturday night, with Skatroniks Jamaica lined up to play. The Skatroniks have risen from the ashes of the acclaimed Jazz Jamaica Allstars big band (Radio 3′s “Best Band of 2002″) and feature Aswad’s Clifton Bigga Morrison (www.skatroniksjamaica.com).

The family event has gathered a loyal following, with people returning every year: “Can’t tell you how much we enjoyed the concert last night. Stunning location, amazing views, weather was perfect and the Fisherman’s Friends were FAB! Thank you so much, looking forward to next year.”

In support of the National Trust’s Coastline Campaign, there will be a small charge for parking, but entry to the event, the music and of course the sunset over St Ouen’s bay – is priceless. (from Isle News)
