East Midlands BMI flights lost

BMI has announced it will cease flying from September - meaning the loss of the Jersey to East Midlands service.

Jersey Airport say they are disappointed with the loss of the service but hope they can find a way to continue it.

Commercial Director for the Ports of Jersey, Myra Shacklady, said: "We are disappointed to hear the decision by bmibaby to cease its entire operations with effect from September 2012 but are hopeful that the airline will continue to operate services to and from Jersey until this period.

"We have yet to be officially notified by the airline of its planned date to cease services but in the meantime, we will be in discussion with alternative carriers in the hope that this route, which has been in operation for over 40 years, can continue in the future."
