Help is at hand for disabled travellers
Help is on the way for disabled people in Guernsey who encounter travel problems.
Next week sees the launch of disability travel cards.
They're being launched by the Health Information Exchange with Policy Council backing.
The cards are also available in Alderney.
The scheme is being launched next Wednesday (30 May). Emilie Yerby, the island's Disability and Equalities Officer, says the need for the cards was highlighted during talks last year with Simon McPhail, who was then Deputy Manager of Guernsey Airport, on the difficulties faced by disabled people when travelling.
Details of how to obtain the cards, and to access to additional help when travelling, can be obtained from Doctors' surgeries, Edward T Wheadon House and the Health Information Exchange offices at both Beau Sejour and the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.
In Alderney the cards can be collected from The States Offices or the Eagle Medical Practice.
