Forged Notes In Circulation
Make sure that your bank notes are genuine.
That's the message from Jersey Police after two separate attempts to buy goods with forged Jersey £10 notes this weekend.
It's warning us that forged notes are in circulation and we should report any that we suspect might not be real.
Crime Prevention Officer Jeremy House says notes should be rather crisp, have sharp colours, the writing flourishes should be slightly raised and there should be a metal thread that appears solid when held to the light.
He also says that if any businesses receive what they think is a forged note, then they should give the customer a receipt, explaining that they note will be handed to the Police. Then contact the Police, who will check it out, and return the note to the customer if it is genuine.
