L'Atlantique hotel opens its doors
A St Saviour's hotel torn apart by a fire in June is now welcoming guests again.
The owners of L'Atlantique, Joao and Gundgea Freitas, have spent six months refurbishing and repairing the building at Perelle.
It has taken up nearly all their time, as well as their personal savings, and Joao even had to sell his house to help fund the refurbishments.
The bar and restaurant was closed for several months, but re-opened earlier this year, and the couple say locals have given them a lot of support.
Both Joao and Gundgea, who's known as 'G' to patrons, are thanking the community in St Saviour's for the help they have received.
Refurbishments in 14 of L'Atlantique's rooms are now complete, and the hotel has started to take bookings again.
While the hotel will be open throughout the winter, further works are still needed on other parts of the hotel, including several guest rooms.
L'Atlantique have also submitted a planning application to create two rooms catered specifically for guests with disabilities.
The owners are hopeful all of the works will be completed in time for the 2013 summer season.
