Cigarettes to go under the counter

Cigarettes will be going under the counter in Jersey in a new crack-down on smoking.

Planned regulations will outlaw tobacco advertising, promotion and display within two years.

The Health department is putting forward tobacco control regulations which, if approved, will see the removal of cigarette and tobacco displays in shops, supermarkets, petrol stations and other retail outlets.

It is believed that advertising and promoting tobacco leads to young people taking up smoking.

The department also wants to make cigarette vending machines illegal.

Jersey is aiming to reduce the number of children under 16-years-old who smoke to under five%.

Here in Victoria they now sell ciggies and tobacco in s**t brindle green packaging (all makes) with graphic pictures of various forms of cancer!!!! Does it stop hubby smoking??? not for a minute - all it does is make me want to throw up when I see them in front of me.......well done - targeting the wrong people, yet again!!! when will they get honest and put a blanket ban on sales??? never, because the revenue they collect is too high for them to forego!!!

Ban fags and legalise weed.!
