A Guernsey brewery has submitted plans to demolish a traditional pub in the Vale.

Randall's Brewery wants to knock down the Coq du Nord pub and replace it with a modern pub and eight houses.

Ian Rogers, Randall's managing director, said the Coq du Nord was a "very tired pub" and replacing it with a new premises was a "no brainer".

Residents in the area have expressed concern at the development plan.

Mr Rogers said Randall's tried to make the pub more family friendly by adding a new lounge bar, but they struggled to attract younger customers.

He said the focus of the new-look would be on food and drink, aimed more at young families.

The plans also include a new manager's flat, a car park with 19 spaces, and eight new detached homes with gardens and parking.

If planning permission is granted work could begin early next year.
