Jersey crime rate drops for the third time in a row
Crime in Jersey has been reduced by a third over the past three years.
The 18% drop in crime for 2013 follows a 12% drop in 2011 and a 4% fall from last year, equating to around 1000 fewer victims of crime.
Chief Officer Mike Bowron said the team had been working with the community to deter criminals "before they commit the crime".
Preventative measures included school visits and increasing foot patrols - leading to 670 fewer victims in 2013.
Mr Bowron said: "We are committed to keeping this island a safe and peaceful place to live in and will continue to do so."
