Capelles one-way looked at Empty Capelles one-way looked at

COMPLAINTS about cars driving on the pavement have sparked an investigation into whether Route de Capelles could be made one-way.
Traffic Sergeant John Tostevin said there had been problems.
‘We have seen over the last five to 10 years an increase in complaints and people have been seen using the pavement as if it was part of the highway,’ he said.
Drivers risk a £70 fixed penalty notice fine if they are caught and could go to court if there were other possible offences, such as if they are driving without due care and attention.
But Sergeant Tostevin said this did not seem to be enough to deter drivers speeding along the pavement, particularly larger four-wheel drive vehicles.
For now, he said, police were just looking at ways to deal with the issue.
Hautes Capelles Primary School head teacher Sue Coughlin, pictured, has been involved with the consultation.
‘I think we need to look at something,’ she said.
