School considering Baccalaureate
Students at a school in Jersey could begin studying for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma next year.
Hautlieu School would be the first in the Channel Islands to ask for authorisation as an IB World School.
The IB Diploma is a two-year programme for 16 to 19-year-olds. Students do not specialise like A-levels and follow a wider range of subjects.
The school, which is confident it meets all the criteria, will be assessed this September for the Baccalaureate.

IB students normally study six subjects. Three are studied at higher level - representing 240 teaching hours - with the remaining three subjects studied at standard level - 150 hours.
The diploma is studied by students in more than 100 countries worldwide. Hautlieu School's coordinator Paul Wallace-Simms said it was not a replacement to A levels but an alternative which would suit many students.
An information evening for the parents of Year 10 students is being held at the school at 1900 BST. (from BBConline)
What do you think, is it a good idea?
