School suspensions to be reviewed
School suspensions in Jersey are to be reviewed by a scrutiny panel team.
The sub-panel, led by Deputy Trevor Pitman, is to review statistics and see if there have been noticeable increases in student suspensions in recent years.
Deputy Pitman said the panel would also look into whether the suspension policy in States schools was being applied fairly and consistently.
Islanders have been asked to submit their comments to the panel. They have until Friday 11 September to do so.
The panel will look into how students' education is supported during suspensions and if pupils' human rights are being respected.
Comments by members of the public can be submitted to the scrutiny office at Mourier House. (from BBC)
I cannot see how a suspension can help many situations, there must be a better way to sort out a troublesome pupil..
